Event Overview

On Sunday 6th of November, the Great Canterbury Duck Race will enter its 5th year. Entry to the event is free to the entire community, enabling everyone to have a fun time along with raising much needed funds for Life Education Trust Canterbury.
There are 3 exciting races starting from the Bridge of Remembrance down the Avon River and past the Terrace Steps to the finish line at Hereford St Bridge.

Graham Consulting Corporate Duck Race

Race 1 - 1:00pm

Businesses and organisations have the opportunity to purchase a large rubber duck for $320 + GST and can be decorated to represent their business or organisation. Each duck will compete to win one of 3 prizes as well as a best dressed duck prize.
1st – A race day at Supa Karts for up to 12 people
2nd – $400 worth of BP fuel vouchers.
3rd – A delicious corporate platter from Mediterranean Food Company delivered to your workplace.

Ray White Duck Race

Race 2 - 1:30pm

The Ray White Duck Race will see 80 ducks race down the Avon River. Entry to this race is exclusive to Ray White Canterbury.

Community & Schools Duck Race

Race 3 - 2:00pm

Hundreds of small rubber ducks will be launched into the Avon River in the race to win one of three amazing prizes. The $10 ducks are sold online and on the day at the event. $5 from each duck will go to your nominated school and $5 will go directly to Life Education Canterbury.
1st – Hanmer holiday package – including a nights accommodation for a family or couple at Drifters Inn, a family or couples pass to the Hot Pools and $120 voucher for Fire and Ice Cafe, Restaurant and Bar.
2nd – Signed Canterbury Rugby Jersey.
3rd – $125 voucher for Chiwahwah Mexican Cantina Bar on the Terrace.
